We have an exciting career opportunity in homeless services, working in the City of York Council statutory homeless sector within the Housing Options Team.

This is a 29.6 hours post worked over 4 days - Monday to Thursday .

We are looking for committed and enthusiastic individuals to provide high quality housing advice and innovative solutions to people who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness.

You will need good interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt and react quickly to fast changing situations.

This role focuses on preventing and relieving homelessness and proactively exploring housing solutions. Youll provide general advice and manage an active caseload with responsibility for statutory legal duties and decisions in accordance with legislation (Housing Act 1996 and Homeless Reduction Act 2017).

The role is within the Housing Options Team and involves a mixture of home and office working plus work in community settlings.

The postholder will have access to secure government sites or email. In order to use these systems, the Cabinet Office requires the HR Team to carry out Baseline Personnel Standard Security (BPSS) checks.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express themselves fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
