Maninplace has been responding and supporting people who present as homeless or rough living in Telford for over 17 years. Our staffing team is committed to providing a safe environment that enables customers to develop their confidence, self-esteem and to help them reach their full potential. As a "Housing Officer" you will be part of a dedicated team ensuring we provide a high-quality temporary accommodation service that reduces the risk of a return to homelessness or rough living for customers accessing our provision. The successful candidate must be able to confidently work as a lone worker, they will be flexible, highly self-motivated, and able to turn their hand to all aspects of the role, all while bringing a strong contribution to the organisation. Every aspect of the role will maintain a person-centred approach that supports all customers in a choice-based environment. Your tenacious and resilient nature will ensure every task is completed to a high standard and will promote the wellbeing and confidence of customers accommodated within the service. Hours of Work <ol><li>40 hours per week. </li><li>Working shifts will be between the operating hours of 0930 - 2030 and will include a share of weekend shifts. </li><li>Maninplace operates 365 days a year, therefore shifts will include bank holiday and festive period working. </li></ol> Salary &amp; Benefits <ol><li>£25,667.20 per annum. Housing Officer Days

The role As a Duty Practitioner you'll provide support and advice to people who have experienced homelessness at our male or female scheme. You'll make sure customers feel comfortable and can manage their tenancy, as well as signposting them to other support such as housing, health and welfare. This role is 37.5 hours on a rota basis, covering 8am - 11pm, Monday to Sunday. Job requirements <ul> <li>Provide and maintain a friendly and supportive environment at the scheme.</li> <li>Support customers to manage their rent and service charge payments, including their benefit claims where necessary.</li> <li>Complete detailed sign-ups to make sure new customers understand their rights and responsibilities. Assist with all areas of move-in to make sure new customers feel comfortable and informed about their tenure agreement, the local area and other services.</li> <li>Support customers by providing advice on housing, health, welfare benefit claims and other areas. This includes crisis intervention where necessary.</li> <li>Help to manage the safety and security of residents and the building, through monitoring all who enter and exit the scheme, and through regular health and safety room checks.</li> <li>Arrange appointments for customers with services such as GPs and DWP. Accompany customers on visits to other services if needed.</li> <li>Complete administrative tasks including phone calls, post and general enquiries.</li> <li>Support with financial duties including prompting and recording weekly rent and service charges and liaising with housing benefit and benefits agencies on behalf of customers.</li></ul>What we're looking for <ul> <li>Educated to GCSE Level or with a good level of maths and English.</li> <li>Some experience dealing directly with the public and/or clients or customers in a busy service environment.</li> <li>Some experience dealing with complex and difficult behaviours in relation to people facing multiple disadvantages.</li> <li>Great communication and administrative skills. </li> <li>Someone with a genuine understanding and compassion for people without a home, who won't judge but instead will empower customers and give them a voice.</li> <li>DBS check.</li> <li>Someone able to work on a seven day rota including mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays such as Christmas Eve/Day and New Year's Eve/Day.</li></ul>Help us give those without a plan, voice or home to build concrete futures by tackling the issues that keep people from finding their own home.
