Are you an experienced community safety professional with the leadership skills to manage high-profile frontline services and make a visible difference to residents, businesses and communities?
We're looking for a motivated, confident and partnership-focused Community Safety Manager to lead our Antisocial Behaviour and CCTV Control Room Teams within Public Protection Services. This is an important opportunity to shape and deliver services that tackle antisocial behaviour, support public safety, strengthen partnership working and help make Newport a safer place to live, work and visit.
Why This Role Matters
As Community Safety Manager, you'll play a key role in the operational management and development of services that respond directly to community concerns, public safety issues and persistent antisocial behaviour.
You'll provide leadership, guidance and support to officers, ensuring the service is responsive, efficient, legally compliant and focused on achieving positive outcomes. Working closely with internal teams, Gwent Police, partner agencies, businesses, residents and other
stakeholders, you'll help coordinate effective interventions, enforcement activity and community safety initiatives.
This role is central to ensuring that Newport City Council meets its responsibilities, delivers against service plans and maintains high standards across antisocial behaviour, CCTV monitoring and related community protection functions.
What You'll Be Doing
You will be responsible for leading the Antisocial Behaviour and CCTV Control Room Teams, ensuring effective service delivery, legal compliance and continuous improvement. The role includes developing policies and procedures, supporting officers with enforcement and intervention work, managing performance and staff development, maintaining data and reporting systems, and working closely with Gwent Police, Council services, businesses and community partners. It also covers responsibility for prosecution oversight, CCTV planning and contractor management, income-related service issues, and leading multi-agency community safety projects on behalf of the Council and the Community Safety Partnership.
