This is an incredible opportunity to gain valuable experience of working at Head of Service level as we seek to ensure the service can deliver our statutory Community Safety responsibilities into the future.
The successful candidate will work across York and North Yorkshire to influence and shape strategic crime reduction strategies and policies for the City of York Council and its statutory partners. They will provide innovative solutions to crime, anti-social behaviour (ASB), substance misuse and fear of crime where no bespoke solution is available. Also influence the strategic contribution of all statutory partners and other key stakeholders engaged in crime and disorder reduction and to ensure that their policies and processes support delivery of the Community Safety Strategy.
They will also influence and shape partner activities such that policies and processes support the delivery of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime & Policing Act 2014 and lead City of York Councils statutory duty under the Counter Terrorism and Security Act 2015, Serious Violence Duty and Prevent Duty.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express themselves spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.

Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process.
