About the Service

At North Yorkshire Council we recognise the importance of having a place to call home, along with the safety and security this can bring. Supported Housing is a key part of our strategy to help people live healthy, more independent lives.

Our Supported Housing Service has a long track record of leading the way in the development of innovative housing solutions for people with a wide range of care and support needs.

North Yorkshire is home to the largest Extra Care Programme in the country, with 28 schemes and more than 1500 apartments with plans in place to grow further.

We also have ambitious plans to transform our Supported Living offer for working age adults, increasing our supply of Supported Living services alongside a broad range of partners to promote lives based around homes, friends and jobs.

In October we will launch new Supported Housing services which will support people with complex life circumstances, particularly around mental health, substance use and offending to secure accommodation with support in order to develop the skills they need to move towards independence.

The team also leads on the commissioning and development of Technology Enabled Care services across Adults' and Children's services, ensuring that people have access to the latest and most effective technology to maximise independence.
