Job summary

The Higher Needs Floating Support Service is a newly commissioned service working with people in temporary accommodation or at risk of homelessness across a variety of settings. The team work closely with the local authority, health, treatment and specialist support providers to improve outcomes and work towards more settled accommodation for those facing multiple disadvantage
Main duties of the job

The service aims to make the most out of peoples independence, skills and wellbeing using a combination of Psychological, Adversity and Trauma informed Practices (PAT), Psychologically Informed Approaches (PIE), Critical Time Interventions (CTI) and Community Based Asset Mapping (CBAM).

Provide day to day leadership and line manage to floating support workers. Manage and allocate referrals from the Housing Support Register (HSR) across the wider Higher Needs Floating Support Service (HNFSS) Promote effective team working and communication.

Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience of working in services for people with complex and multiple needs relating to at least two of the following: mental health, drug and alcohol, homelessness, offending including needs assessments and the support planning process.
  • Experience of supervising staff, students or volunteers.
  • Proven experience of outreach/floating support work, demonstrating persistence and flexibility and a range of successful engagement strategies
  • Proven ability to build relationships, and to work collaboratively and successfully in a team environment across sectors and agencies
  • Proven ability to promote and apply good practice in equality and diversity
  • Proven ability to operate risk management and safe working practices in working with vulnerable clients
Desirable

  • Proven experience of working within a housing and support agency
  • Proven experience of mental health issues and/or services, either as a user, carer or supporter.
  • Lived experience as a service user or carer.
