About the role....

Gateshead 'oun'il is seeking to appoint two Supported Housing Inspe'tion Offi'ers to review the quality of supported a''ommodation. The amount of supported a''ommodation is rising in Gateshead, o''upied by some of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable residents. You will work with providers to ensure that supported a''ommodation is safe and that tenant support is being delivered to a high standard.

Being based within our Private Se'tor Team you will have the support of a well-established and experien'ed inspe'tion team. You will develop, plan and 'ondu't a programme of housing inspe'tions on external and internal supported/temporary a''ommodation, assessing the quality of provision in'luding the management standards, safety and the support provided. You will 'arry out follow on work in relation to inspe'tion and support reviews su'h as enfor'ement where housing improvements are required, and engagement of support to meet individual's needs where this falls short. Your work will develop and strengthen relationships with partners and develop provider training and quality standards to support improvements. You will be involved in the s'rutiny of housing benefit (HB) 'laims, in'luding ben'hmarking, identifying themes, trends and best pra'tise to ensure value for money.

You must hold a Level 4 Qualifi'ation, su'h as an HN', have experien'e of working in a 'ustomer fo'used environment, with servi'e providers in a proa'tive way- su'h as landlords, 'harities and/or supported housing providers, of 'ompleting assessments, audits and/or inspe'tions, and of ta'kling noise, anti-so'ial behaviour or housing related problems.

You must have experien'e of using analyti'al skills to resear'h, 'ollate eviden'e and analyse information and data, strong numeri'al and IT skills, of developing do'uments, systems, pro'esses and pro'edures and have good verbal 'ommuni'ation skills, in'luding the ability to 'ommuni'ate at different levels and to negotiate and good written 'ommuni'ation, in'luding experien'e of writing formal 'orresponden'e, produ'ing reports, plans and writing pro'edures.

You must have a good understanding of Gateshead 'oun'il's Thrive agenda, Housing and Health & Wellbeing strategies and of the legislation and regulation that relates to housing standards, noise, anti-so'ial behaviour and nuisan'es and the 'oun'il's role in enfor'ement.

You will have a 'urrent driving li'en'e or means to mobility support.
