Procurement Manager - Plant Hire

Select Plant Hire is looking for a Procurement Manager to join our growing team based in St Neots.
This position plays a key role in ensuring our projects have access to the plant, tools and equipment they need, when they need it. Working closely with operational and commercial teams, as well as key suppliers, you will lead procurement activities for externally sourced plant, tools and equipment.
You will be responsible for developing strategic supplier partnerships, driving value and performance across the supply chain, ensuring compliance with procurement governance requirements, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service, efficiency and commercial outcomes.
The role focuses primarily on external plant hire and tools. Where equipment is not available within our own fleet, you will source solutions through our supplier network while ensuring quality, value, service levels and commercial objectives are achieved.

What you'll be doing
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for externally hired plant, tools and equipment.
- Manage and develop strategic supplier relationships across key supply chain partners.
- Drive preferred supplier utilisation and identify opportunities to reduce supply chain leakage and maximise commercial value.
- Lead commercial negotiations relating to hire agreements, framework agreements, rebates, service level agreements and value improvement initiatives.
- Manage supplier performance, ensuring quality, service and commercial expectations are consistently achieved.
- Ensure compliance with procurement governance requirements, including delegated authority, approval limits and company procurement policies.
- Identify, assess and mitigate supply chain risks to support business continuity and supplier resilience.
- Work collaboratively with operational, commercial and project teams to understand current and future business requirements.
- Support major project requirements and critical business initiatives through effective supplier engagement and procurement planning.
- Monitor market conditions, supplier capability and industry trends to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Produce reporting and performance insights for key stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance procurement performance, operational efficiency and commercial outcomes.
