About the Team:

The Responsive Repairs Team plays a vital role in ensuring Lambeth's housing stock is safe, well-maintained, and responsive to residents' needs. We deliver a high-quality repairs service across thousands of homes, working closely with contractors, surveyors, and neighbourhood housing colleagues to resolve issues efficiently and professionally. Our team is committed to continuous improvement, resident satisfaction, and collaborative working, supporting Lambeth's ambition to provide excellent housing services that reflect our values of Equity, Ambition, Kindness, and Accountability.

About the Role:

As a surveyor, you will play a key role in diagnosing, specifying and managing repairs across Lambeth's housing stock. You will carry out pre- and post-inspections, identify defects, provide accurate technical specifications, and work closely with contractors to ensure works are completed to a high standard and within budget.

You will need solid technical ability, an understanding of building problems, good customer service, and the ability to work with both residents and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out pre-inspections of reported repairs and diagnose building defects, including complex and technical issues.
  • Conduct post-inspections to ensure repairs are completed to specification and quality standards, addressing any non-compliance.
  • Undertake damp & mould inspections, provide clear advice to residents, and identify long-term mitigation and prevention measures.
  • Prepare technical reports, schedules of work and cost-effective solutions.
  • Work in partnership with contractors, providing clear instructions and ensuring delivery meets contractual and legislative requirements.
  • Advise neighbourhood housing staff on repairs, variations, and technical matters.
  • Escalate safeguarding concerns appropriately when visiting residents' homes.
  • Support continuous improvement, including contract performance monitoring and service development.
