This is an exciting opportunity to join the SME Property Credit team as a Credit Officer focussing on Social and Supported Housing clients, a critically meaningful role that contributes directly to our Group Social Housing Initiative.

About the team

Part of Business and Commercial Banking Credit's Real Estate & Housing Team, the SME Property Credit team are the partner for SME coverage colleagues supporting the Group's property clients, ranging from small businesses to clients with large property portfolios. This is a dynamic role combining credit analysis, portfolio monitoring, stakeholder management and lending decisions. The team partners directly with the Business & Commercial Banking ("BCB") business to help drive revenue growth whilst maintaining an appropriate risk appetite to limit credit losses. Responsibilities
  • Collaboration with originators, relationship managers, and product partners as well as Senior Sanctioners to shape credit proposals that fit with our credit appetite and policies.
  • Ensure credit risk is well managed within the Bank's risk appetite using a personal delegated credit authority appropriately.
  • Supporting the business to grow safely and securely, maintaining a balance of risk and reward.
  • Proactively monitoring the performance of the existing portfolio, communicating any emerging risks to senior management and other colleagues as appropriate, as well as ensuring compliance with LBG and regulatory policy.
  • Contribute to policy, sector and ad-hoc reviews, providing constructive challenge and support to optimise outcomes on individual cases.
  • Responding to queries from Senior Leaders and Regulators, providing detailed insight into any areas of credit risk focus within the portfolio
  • Proactively finding opportunities to improve ways of working - helping to transition the team into a risk function of the future.
About you, here is what we are looking for:
  • Sector and credit expertise: Track record of assessing the credit worthiness of social and supported housing clients and structuring lending accordingly.
  • Demonstrable high levels of attention to detail, numeracy, and accuracy.
  • Good communication and influencing skills.
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships.
  • Willingness to challenge the status quo.
  • Confidence in making and explaining decisions.
  • Ability to prioritise multiple requests and meet deadlines.
