Where and when do we need you?
Fair Ways are looking for an unqualified teacher specialising in Independent Living Skills, to work as part of our fantastic teaching team at our specialist Autism School located at our new Eastleigh campus. We strongly believe in creating a person-centred programme to meet each child's needs adapting a unique 'autistic curriculum'. This not only captures the pupil's learning needs but also addresses social, emotional and communication needs of children and young people with autism, and nurtures their independence and well-being. Students are placed with Fair Ways when most other mainstream or specialist schools have been unsuccessful. As such, they are likely to have been out of education for a long period of time, having exhausted multiple placements.

As an unqualified teacher at our school you will be involved exciting and rewarding things like:
- Individualised lesson planning, delivery of lessons, marking of work and knowing when and how to differentiate appropriately using approaches which enable students to be taught effectively.
- Helping young people draw up action plans for employment, education and training and support them to achieve these goals. This will include a high standard of planning and delivery of the programme whilst supporting the individual needs of the student
- Participating in the completion and monitoring of all student assessments and being accountable for student's attainment, progress, and outcomes with your subject area.
- Supporting the implementation and delivery of each students Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Personal Education Plan (PEP) by providing relevant data to monitor progress, set targets and plan lessons.
- Liaising and negotiating with Employers, Colleges, Universities, and training providers to provide the best opportunities for our students.
- Demonstrating an understanding of, and a willingness to learn, how the young peoples' early life experiences and how such experiences may result in, or contribute to, severe challenging behavior.
- Recognising and accepting the possible need to intervene using positive handling strategies in order to make incidents safe, and to work as part of a consistent team.
You and your specialisms
Teaching roles within our frontline services help achieve our mission of making a difference through passionate care, support, and education. To support this, you will be required to have, or be working towards a minimum of the following qualification levels:
- To be qualified to a minimum of A Level or equivalent within a relevant subject area, ideally with experience within the education sector.
- To possess an understanding of legislation relevant to education and child protection policies and procedures.
