Creative Support is a non-profit provider of personalised care and support for people with learning disabilities, mental health needs, autism spectrum conditions, and older people. You will provide practical housing management activities centred on tenancy start up, closure and resettlement, overseeing repairs, health and safety monitoring, tenant consultation and addressing anti-social behaviour and neighbour disputes. You will be responsible for providing advice and support to scheme staff on how to promote positive tenancy sustainment and proactively provide good tenancy management in properties owned and managed by Creative Support. You will take responsibility for carrying out formal and complex actions yourself including signing up tenants, supporting tenants with Housing Benefit applications, attending tenancy reviews whilst working alongside the housing officer. You will be friendly, approachable and confident and able to communicate clearly with clients, staff and other partner agencies. You should not be averse to dealing with sometimes challenging and / or emotional cases and will demonstrate professionalism and empathy as necessary. You will ideally have some knowledge of the current Housing Benefit system. You will need to be self-motivated with a keen interest in rules and regulations and how we can use this knowledge to better achieve positive outcomes for our tenants and maximise Creative Support's income from its housing stock. Relief Housing Support Worker

You will hold a caseload, working closely with your customers to prevent or relieve the challenges they face, working with a range of customers. You will provide practical and emotional support to people who are facing homelessness, applying the legislation with a significant focus around prevention. You will help your customers recognise and address any support needs, and assist them to achieve long term, sustainable housing. You will collaborate with a range of partner agencies to build solid relationships leading to excellent outcomes for your clients. You will take a proactive approach to promoting awareness of homelessness and identifying any new opportunities amongst wider services to prevent homelessness. About you: Passionate about tackling homelessness, you will use your excellent communication skills to build and develop great relationships across a variety of stakeholders. You will be a highly motivated, caring individual with an ability to inspire others. You will have knowledge of the Homeless Reduction Act, and also Wigan Council's commitment to improving outcomes for our residents. You will be proactive in your approach, exploring opportunities, and identifying challenges, linking in with other Local Authorities to develop best practice.
