Casual - Various shifts available

As a Casual Independent Living Assistant you will be delivering flexible packages of care to older people within Charles Clore Court Extra Care Housing site, alongside the discharge to assess service

We are an integrated Health & Social Care team with responsibility for complex patients requiring discharge from a hospital bed. We offer a dual service - domiciliary care and discharge to assess service for our users. We undertake assessments to determine the level of support and care a person requires. Under the discharge to assess model we offer assessment, rehabilitation, reablement and treatment in the community.

We seek the best talent from the widest pool of people as diversity and inclusion is the key to our success. Reading Borough Council is a Disability Confident Employer and is committed to the recruitment and continued employment of people with disabilities.

A variety of shifts are available including mornings beginning at 7.00am, evenings finishing at 10.00pm, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

We are based at Charles Clore Court, 139 Appleford Road, Reading in the heart of Southcote Reading, with excellent transport routes.

About The Role:Applicants must have the right to work in the UK - Sponsorship not available. We provide everyone referred to us with a personal assessment. Delivering high quality personalised support to help the transition from hospital to a person's own home or an assessed, approved care place. Involving our service users, their families and carers in choosing the support we offer.

Working closely with colleagues in health and social care at all stages to deliver a seamless, personalised service from hospital to their selected destination. We also provide a domiciliary care service to those who hold tenancies within the building in the form of structured packages of care.

Previous experience in working with older people or in care setting is desirable but not essential as full training will be given. NVQ level 2 or equivalent or a current care certificate with tracking number is desirable however on completion of successful probationary period, QCF Qualification will be offered.

You'll be part of a team that relies on each individual to play their part to the best of their ability. As well as the colleagues that you work closely with every day, you'll also be part of Team Reading, playing your personal part in making Reading a successful and vibrant place.

Our vision is to ensure that Reading realises its potential as a great place to live, work and play, and that everyone shares the benefits of this success. Our values and behaviours guide how we will achieve this:
Work Together as one team - work collaboratively, with each other and with our partners, and demonstrate the Team Reading values in everything we do
Drive Efficiency - show initiative, be adaptable to change and put forward ideas to help improve delivery and efficiency. Take responsibility for our own learning and development and for reaching our potential
Be Ambitious - be demanding of our own performance - striving to be even better - and be prepared to engage with and challenge leaders in a constructive and positive way
