Job Introduction What you'll do As a Leasehold Officer, you'll be the main housing contact for leaseholders living in our over-55s retirement schemes. You'll deliver a person-centred housing service that reflects individual needs while ensuring each scheme is safe, well-managed, and financially sound. Working closely with residents, colleagues, and contractors, you'll balance wellbeing, property management, and income collection to create environments where people feel supported and secure in their homes. How you'll do it <ul><li>Provide tailored housing management support to leaseholders, including regular welfare checks and home visits.</li><li>Support residents to understand their lease responsibilities, service charges, sinking funds, and payment options.</li><li>Manage repairs and maintenance in communal areas, liaising with contractors and monitoring quality of work.</li><li>Oversee health and safety compliance at scheme level, including fire risk assessment actions and site security.</li><li>Lead resident engagement through meetings, consultations, and feedback on services and budgets.</li><li>Monitor service charge income and take appropriate action to recover arrears, escalating when necessary.</li><li>Work with internal teams such as Resales, Assets, and Care &amp; Support to deliver joined-up services.</li><li>Maintain clean, welcoming communal areas and support activities that enhance residents' quality of life.</li></ul>The ideal candidate We believe great service starts with great people, and we are committed to recruiting and developing passionate, enthusiastic, and talented individuals who can add value to our thriving organisation. Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council is investing in Homelessness Services and is looking for enthusiastic, passionate people to join the expanding team of Housing Options. You will be part of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council Housing Options team, providing housing advice and assistance to households who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. You will assist customers to improve their situation so that they can remain in stable accommodation and will do this by negotiating with landlords and relatives to prevent homelessness.You will work towards getting single people and couples away from a life on the streets and help accommodate families and vulnerable people when they have lost accommodation. You will demonstrate your ability to deal with emotionally challenging cases in difficult situations, providing advice to members of the public and determining what legal duties are owed to customers who approach the Council for assistance.
