The ServiceStrategic Housing Services covers a wide remit including Private Sector team, Homelessness and housing options, Asylum seeker and refugee, Gypsy and Roma Traveller, Affordable housing and policy. The team reports to the Housing Services Manager.&nbsp;We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Private Sector Initiatives Officer to join our Strategic Housing Team to assist with the delivery of a Selective Licensing Scheme. &nbsp;We are looking for:&nbsp;<ul><li>A highly motivated and enthusiastic person</li><li>Who isa great teamplayer</li><li>NVQ level 4 or equivalent(ideally in Housing or Environmental Health)</li><li>With recent experience in this field to show a thorough knowledge in the relevant context. </li><li>Experience of selective licensing schemes including enforcement.</li></ul>The role requires:&nbsp;<ul><li>Excellent organisational and communication skills, being able to communicate with people on all levels including council members, colleagues and members of the public.</li><li>A good level of effective IT skills and the ability to understand and develop the use of ICT to achieve work objectives.</li><li>The post holder will be based in Blyth area, working with community groups and other stakeholders in the area to contribute to the overall regeneration and improvement of the area.   </li><li>The post will provide a first point of contact for private landlords and stakeholders (by all access channels), dealing with enquiries on selective licensing (the licensing of private landlords in order to rent their homes in certain areas of Northumberland) and guiding though the licensing process.</li><li>The post holders will be responsible for Housing Conditions in the Private Rented Sector within selective licensing areas. Specifically, the enforcement element of Private Sector Housing functions in relation to Parts 1, 3 and 4 of the Housing Act 2004 and associated legislation. </li><li>The post holder must hold a valid UK Driving Licence</li></ul>The post holder will be working in a small team based in Blyth. This is a full-time role on a permanent contract. Senior Private Sector Initiatives Officer

Job Information ROLE OF THE JOB You will deliver effective tenancy management to customers within a defined geographical area and be a key point of contact for customer to deliver a range of tenancy management services including; changes in tenancies, property inspections, tenancy breaches and estate management. You will carry out home visits to all customers on a regular, planned basis to identify and assist with any issues that may support the sustainability of the tenancy. You will be responsible for planning and conducting regular inspections of the neighbourhood in partnership with customers, Councillors, Police and Local Services and develop a continuous action plan to ensure that the neighbourhoods are maintained as safe and attractive places. You will be responsible for the matching and allocation of properties and then arranging and carrying out accompanied viewings, ensuring all sign ups of new tenancies including garage tenancies are carried out in a timely manner to maximise rental income and minimise potential rent loss. You will also actively develop and promote resident engagement at a neighbourhood level, attending meetings and other activities where appropriate including those which occur outside of normal office hours.
