About The Role Role: Homeless &amp; Housing Solutions Advisor REF 1624823 Contract Length: 3 months Location: Hybrid/Redditch - 2 days per week onsite IR35: Inside Pay Rate to Intermediary: £22.11 per hour Spinwell is recruiting for a Homeless &amp; Housing Solutions Advisor for an excellent opportunity within the public sector. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE HOMELESS &amp; HOUSING SOLUTIONS ADVISOR <ul> <li>Provide a professional and compliant, customer facing Homelessness and Housing Solutions Advice Service firmly focussed on the prevention and relief of homelessness</li> <li>Support all officers, systems, and processes in operating the Homelessness and Housing Solutions and Voids, Allocations &amp; Lettings teams</li> <li>To be responsible and accountable for the Local Authorities operations in accordance with its legal obligations to provide professional housing and homelessness advice services in accordance with: Part VI &amp; VII Housing Act 1996 (as amended); Homelessness Reduction Act 2017; Welfare Reform, Safeguarding and the Children's Act.</li> <li>Support the strategic and operational managers in delivering the vision, strategies and initiatives for the Homelessness and Housing Solutions Team and the wider Housing Service of which you are an integral part.</li> </ul>SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE HOMELESS &amp; HOUSING SOLUTIONS ADVISOR <ul> <li>GCSEs or equivalent including English, Maths and or a second language at Grade A-C</li> <li>At least 3 years demonstrable experience working in a homelessness, housing options or other relevant customer advice service</li> <li>Knowledge of legislation, regulation, and policy in relation to the provision of the service</li> <li>Experience of providing professional high-quality customer services to customers often with multiple complex issues and who may be in highly emotive situations</li> <li>Experience of assessing and meeting people's needs and requirements and managing expectations</li> <li>Experience of problem solving through collaboration and partnership working that has achieved excellent outcomes</li> <li>Experience of call handling and operating specialist IT systems</li> <li>Administrative and assistive experience</li></ul>If you are a Homeless &amp; Housing Solutions Advisor, apply now or send your CV to Spinwell! About the Role As an Independent Living Officer, you'll be a visible and approachable presence within our Independent Living community. Our residents come from a wide range of backgrounds, and many may be vulnerable, so we're looking for someone who is caring, flexible, understanding and positive in their approach. You'll be there to help with any concerns or issues that arise, offering reassurance and practical support. On a day to day basis, you will deal with queries, incidents and issues that may occur in and around the independent living schemes. You will support and encourage social interaction and be creative and imaginative to deliver events and activities. You'll also undertake regular Health and Safety inspections, to include fire alarm and water testing, ensuring that legislation is adhered to and report any communal repairs or defects, following through until completion. About You We're looking for someone who has experience working in a customer-focused environment, ideally with an understanding of the needs of vulnerable individuals. You'll be a great communicator, a team player, and someone who genuinely enjoys helping others. Good IT skills, in particular MS Office, and the ability to use IT based systems is also required. Having an understanding of welfare benefits, including Housing Benefit claims, would be preferable although this is not essential. The use of a current driving licence and access to an appropriately insured vehicle is a requirement for the post. Mileage expenses will be reimbursed. In this role you will provide street outreach, engagement activities, crisis intervention, clinical assessment. You will work closely with other team members, service providers and local homeless service providers in an effort to connect individuals to treatment, housing and other resources. Responsibilities: <ul><li>Perform outreach and engagement activities to identify homeless individuals with mental health and co-occurring substance use needs that are living in public places, drop in centers, meal sites and shelters.</li><li>Provide clinical services such as crisis intervention and counseling, as well as concrete services such as providing warm clothing, blankets, and food to reduce risk of harm on the streets.</li><li>Encourage use of housing resources, meal sites, shelters and other services/ entitlements, facilitating linkage. .</li><li>Maintain a thorough, current knowledge of local public and private resources including housing, residential programs, and other community organizations.
