The Head of Major Works will play a role in shaping the future of communities across one of the world’s most iconic cities.</p><h5>THE ROLE</h5><p>Westminster is home to more than 250,000 residents and 50,000 businesses. Our diverse communities, thriving high streets, night time economy and international tourism are internationally recognised and in the heart of the city we provide 22,000 homes to tenants and leaseholders.</p><p>The Head of Major Works will lead the delivery of Westminster’s Housing Major Works £40million plus annual capital programme. You will provide both strategic vision and operational leadership, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standard while keeping residents at the heart of every decision. With responsibility for a team of up to 60 staff and extensive contractor resources, you will drive performance, accountability, and innovation across a large-scale, high-profile programme.</p><p>The remit of this role spans all construction activities through to handover. You will balance technical excellence and financial rigour with outstanding communication and collaboration, ensuring residents are engaged, informed, and empowered throughout the process.</p><p>We’re looking for a construction professional with significant experience of capital programmes and the complexities of improving and preserving existing housing stock. You will be as comfortable working on listed estates as you are shaping investment in modern developments, with the expertise to safeguard Westminster’s architectural legacy while delivering modern standards and sustainability.</p><p>Equally important will be your ability to create and inspire a resident-focused workforce – building a culture of pride, care, and professionalism.
