You must be an excellent team player who can work in a high-pressured, constantly changing environment, and conduct yourself with professionalism and empathy. Your next role You will interview and case manage people in housing need, giving high quality advice and assistance and dealing tactfully and sympathetically with applicants in frequently stressful circumstances. As a Housing Options Officer, you will also ensure that customers are aware of their legal rights and liaise with housing providers and other agencies, including Citizen's Advice, The Courts, Police and Probation and Social Services to find positive outcomes for your customers. This post provides an excellent opportunity to work alongside dedicated officers providing housing advice and assistance to customers who are experiencing or are at risk of domestic abuse. Knowledge of housing law and homelessness legislation would be beneficial but not essential as full training will be provided. You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act "for the effective performance of a customer-facing role"). Housing Options Officer

We are implementing an organisational change programme and have recently launched our Housing Plan 2025-30 which sets out ambitious actions for housing over the next 5 years. We are now looking for an enthusiastic Housing Advisor to join our high performing housing options and homelessness team to make a real difference supporting families and individuals at risk of homelessness. About the Role The postholder will work within the Housing Options &amp; Homelessness Team to deliver a high-quality service tasked with reducing homelessness. The team consists of 12 staff who perform both housing advice and homelessness decision roles. B&amp;NES is a high-performing Council with relatively few households in temporary accommodation, reflecting the team's excellent work. The role is primarily based in Bath, but you may need to work from other locations in the district. There is also the opportunity to work from home by agreement. About You You will have: <ul><li>Knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation and experience in providing frontline housing options or homelessness services.</li><li>A Degree and/or a relevant specialist Housing qualification in Housing Advice or equivalent. </li><li>Excellent communication skills in all forms with the ability to influence, use empathy to understand complex situations, and to advise others.</li><li>Be capable of performing efficiently and effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment, handling challenging client behaviours with composure, integrity, and effectiveness.</li></ul>The role also requires excellent record keeping as well as IT skills. Experience of Civica Abritas or similar housing databases would be an advantage. You will need to have good communications skills. Experience of generating reports and managing website information would also be an advantage.
