This is a pivotal role within the Housing Assets team, responsible for ensuring high-quality, customer-focused, and value-for-money services for our tenants.You will manage a multidisciplinary team of technical professionals, oversee the procurement and delivery of maintenance contracts, and ensure compliance with Decent Homes standards, health and safety regulations, and strategic housing objectives.<h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Lead the delivery of the Council’s planned maintenance and capital investment programmes.</li><li>Manage and motivate a team of surveyors and specialists to deliver high-performing services.</li><li>Oversee procurement, contract management, and compliance with financial and regulatory standards.</li><li>Ensure accurate stock condition data and effective asset management planning.</li><li>Drive service improvement through performance monitoring, resident feedback, and innovation.</li><li>Represent the Council in meetings with stakeholders, residents, and external partners.</li></ul><h3>What We’re Looking For</h3>We’re looking for a confident leader with:<ul><li>Full membership (or working towards) of RICS or CIOB and a relevant degree.</li><li>A strong background in contract/project management within housing or a related field.</li><li>Excellent knowledge of building technology, asset management, and housing systems.</li><li>Proven ability to manage budgets, lead teams, and deliver results under pressure.</li><li>Strong communication, negotiation, and IT skills, including use of databases and reporting tools.</li><li>A customer-focused, innovative, and flexible approach to service delivery.</li></ul>A retrofit qualification and experience working in or with local authorities would be advantageous.<h3>Other Requirements</h3><ul><li>A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.</li></ul><h3>Why Join Us?</h3>At South Cambridgeshire District Council, we are committed to delivering excellent services and investing in our people. Operations Manager – Planned Maintenance

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on making a difference in communities, with a particular focus on managing anti-social behaviour, tackling rent arrears, and supporting tenancy sustainment. This is a home-based role with regular customer visits and occasional attendance at our Head Office in Bedford Heights for team collaboration and meetings.
