Role: Social Worker- Homeless Intervention Team Location: Birmingham Children's Trust Team: Homeless Intervention Team Pay: Up to £33.30 per hour Contract: Full-Time Locum OFSTED: Good In the office: Hybrid Are you a skilled and compassionate Social Worker with a strong background in working with vulnerable young people? Birmingham's local authority is seeking a dedicated professional to join our Homeless Intervention Team, focusing on supporting young people aged 16-17 who are at risk of homelessness or already homeless. Key Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Conducting Section 17 Assessments and Child in Need (CIN) plans to offer support to young people.</li> <li>Providing Section 17 and Section 20 accommodation to those in need, ensuring all statutory requirements are met.</li> <li>Working closely with families to resolve conflicts and reunite young people with their families where possible.</li> <li>Managing cases where safeguarding concerns arise, conducting strategy discussions and Section 47 investigations when required.</li> <li>Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to support young people and improve their housing and life outcomes.</li> <li>Ensuring all work is compliant with relevant legislation, including the Southwark Judgement and Homelessness Reduction Act.</li></ul>Requirements: <ul> <li>Minimum of 4 years post-qualification experience as a Social Worker.</li> <li>Proven experience completing Section 17 assessments, holding CIN plan, and managing Section 20 processes (including reviews, PEPs, and pathway planning).s</li> <li>Strong background in working with families to prevent breakdowns and support reunification.</li> <li>In-depth understanding of the Southwark Judgement and the Homelessness Reduction Act.</li> <li>Excellent communication, problem-solving, and case management skills.</li></ul>Benefits: <ul> <li>Opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of vulnerable young people.</li> <li>Work within a supportive and dedicated team environment.</li> <li>Ongoing professional development and training opportunities.</li></ul>Why choose Sheldon Phillips to find your next role?
