As a Homeless Accommodation and Support Officer you will be working with clients in the locality to progress in resettlement accommodation. This client group will have a history of recurrent homelessness and need support to build on their skills to manage in their tenancy. You will carry a caseload of up to 15 people with multiple needs (some of which will be entrenched rough sleepers). You will provide a holistic and coordinated support for all customers, from first contact when they sign up for their accommodation, through to them move on into a long-term settled tenancy. You will be part of the Council's Housing Options team working alongside the Community Safety HUB, commissioned services, and local charities. The role will involve you working in a multi-agency setting, co-ordinating support on behalf of this client group to help them succeed in their accommodation. The ideal candidates will have the ability to work using a supportive person-centred approach, with individuals who have been rough sleeping and the trauma associated with that. You will also have experience of working with people with multiple needs, knowledge of the current welfare system, private rented sector and understand the barriers to engagement. Additionally, you will be able to work flexibly and creatively according to the needs and patterns of the clients. You need to be available to support the wider rough sleeper team to meet the needs of the client group. This may include working on tenancy readiness skills with small groups or offering one to one coaching for other clients open to the team. Homeless Accommodation and Support Officer

We are looking to appoint a Homelessness Prevention Officer to join our Young People's Pathway Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with young people aged 16-25 who are at risk of homelessness or homeless in North Yorkshire. Based within the Housing Options team the post holder will be required to work alongside colleagues in Children and Families Service, Adults Social Care and a variety of external agencies all of whom support the Young People of North Yorkshire. The post holder will work with young people and their carers to prevent homelessness through timely assessment and appropriate intervention, including mediation. The role is a hybrid one that provides linkage between housing and children's social care and the post holder will receive training in this role. The post holder will work closely with Housing Options Officers where there are statutory duties to the young people around accommodation and Children's services when young people are aged 16 and 17 or leaving care. Through joint working, this post will support the effective delivery of the Young People's Accommodation Pathway. Duties include: • To manage a case load of young people at risk of becoming homeless, including assessment, planning and administrative duties. • Ensure that screening assessments for all 16 and 17 year olds are completed and recorded within the appropriate databases. • To assess and monitor risk levels and develop appropriate support plans for young people, referring to specialist support services as required and monitoring and co-ordinating the implementation of plans.
