This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Homeless Prevention Team within an innovative Housing Options Service. We are seeking a passionate individual to lead the team responsible for delivering such services with emphasis on prevention of homelessness. The successful candidate will ensure that the services are delivered in line with the Councils Homelessness &amp; Rough Sleeping Strategy, and associated policies. You will ensure that the council appropriately discharges its legal obligations to people threatened with or experiencing homelessness and those in housing need. You will also be required to establish and maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders and consider opportunities to ensure effective operational management of the service and work in collaboration with other services, and senior management to ensure that services are joined up appropriately and are aligned to the achievement of the Council's aims and objectives. Whilst previous experience of working in a homelessness or other busy front-line public-sector role would be advantageous, it is not essential. You will hold a personal caseload of households, to agree practical and reasonable steps for the Council and the household to take to prevent and/or relieve homelessness. Households will include private or social tenants, homeowners, those evicted by family members or facing relationship breakdown, and may be vulnerable and/or have complex needs. You will provide a flexible and responsive service for applicants who are homeless or threatened with homelessness by delivering services from our offices and ensuring comprehensive housing advice is available for customers, staff and partner agencies. You will carry out home visits to assess homelessness and the sustainability of the applicant's current housing. Joining our expanding Private Rented Housing Team, you will lead a team of 2 Supported Lettings Officers and 2 Floating Support Officers to improve the efficiency and overall success of the Private Rented team. It's all about creating a steady supply of accommodation for households in housing need, then following up with effective contract monitoring. This is a hybrid role where you will be working 4 days per week on-site at our office in Kensington Town Hall. About you We're looking for solid experience in housing or property. This includes experience in procurement, contract management and working with landlords or letting agents. You'll be able to confidently handle a demanding workload and communicate effectively with all kinds of people. A good knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and the private rented sector is important.
