Job Introduction We're offering an interesting and rewarding role for a Resident Engagement Officer in our Neighbourhoods Team. You'll be responsible for working with our tenants, empowering them to have a voice in how we develop and manage our housing service and properties. We want to exceed people's expectations about what it means to engage with us as their landlord. You'll communicate with tenants, set up new tenant groups, and develop and implement new initiatives to engage local people. You'll provide advice and guidance to Resident Associations and support the development of new associations across the city. Some of this work will be done in the evening or at weekends, as we like to hold events for tenants at times that suit them best. Ideally, you'll have some experience working with residents or similar groups and you'll understand the requirements and challenges of the Government's Social Housing White Paper. A DBS check is required for this role. This is a site-based role. Interviews will be held on 23 and 30 May 2025. Main Responsibility <ul><li>Empower and encourage tenants so that they have the information and skills to actively participate, including the delivery and/or sourcing of training and other capacity building initiatives.</li><li>Able to use resources efficiently and effectively in line with Council guidelines, whilst monitoring and measuring the success of involvement activities. The role will ensure MKCC meets the required consumer standards and future consumer measurables of our performance across all aspects of work.</li><li>Working collaboratively across teams to support the development and implementation of surveys and consultations, encouraging tenant participation.</li><li>Identify, develop and implement new and innovative approaches to resident involvement to encourage the involvement of residents from diverse and wide-ranging backgrounds particularly those who are harder to reach.</li><li>Support residents' associations across Milton Keynes, offering advice and guidance, including attendance at their meetings.</li><li>Processing Health checks and funding, maintaining clear and comprehensive records.</li><li>Have a genuine commitment to customer care, be self-motivated and well organised, able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team, with the ability to work flexibly and outside of normal office hours as required.</li></ul>The Ideal Candidate <ul><li>A working and practised knowledge of the Tenant Involvement and Empowerment standard, a good understanding of the Government's Social Housing White Paper, and the consumer standards. </li><li>A CiH level 3 qualification or equivalent or be willing to work towards one.</li><li>Demonstrable experience of working in a tenant focused or community development role either within a Local Authority, Registered Provider of Social Housing (Housing Association) or another tenant focused environment.</li><li>Demonstrating an empathic and considered approach regarding resident involvement from a wide spectrum of people, with ability to adapt communication style to suit different situations. </li><li>Able to understand the political, social, and economic drivers and their impact on residents' lives, using this knowledge to interact with residents and communities and ultimately drive-up Resident Involvement. </li><li>The role requires extensive travel around the area of Milton Keynes and own means of transports is essential. A full UK driving licence, evidence of the driving licence and vehicle insurance with business insurance will be required from the candidate should they be offered this position.
