Job Introduction Following the retirement of the previous postholder, we are looking for a Senior Officer who can provide leadership to the hardworking and professional Housing Support Team. The Housing Support Team provides a high level of support to key business processes in the Housing Operations service. Housing Operations is responsible for the enforcement of housing standards in rented properties, licensing of HMOs, delivery of adaptations to disabled people, provision of financial assistance to vulnerable homeowners and bringing empty properties back into use. The Senior Officer - Housing Support Team is a key role in the Housing Operations service. Job Introduction Sheltered Housing Officer Role Purpose: • Provide an excellent housing management service to a patch of sheltered properties, encouraging resident involvement in scheme and community activities. • Provide preventative support and security to vulnerable or potentially vulnerable tenants and leaseholders to enable them to manage their homes independently. The Role We are looking to appoint a new team of qualified BSL (British Sign Language) Independent Living Support Workers, this is an exciting opportunity to help build our BSL ISL Provision and provide excellent support. Due to the demands of the service, we are looking for candidates who hold a BSL qualification. The property is a 2 bedroom home located in a residential area in Newcastle, a short walk from the City Centre, St James Park, the Town Moore and Leazes Park as well as local transport services which opens up the whole of the North East to the people we support. There is also parking available. Our BSL Independent Supported Living scheme is a home for 2 young individuals who are leaving college and require support with everyday living tasks, cooking, cleaning, organising fun social activities, support to health appointments and to live as independently as possible. You will need to be enthusiastic, friendly, enjoy your work and have a positive outlook on life and a real desire to help people achieve their goals and reach their full potential. A great team player, who is flexible, organised and has the skills to work with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the people we support receive the highest level of care is required.
