The Vacancy Our Dorset team is looking for an Independent Living Housing Officer to join the team for a 12 month fixed term contract. As a Housing Officer you'll be providing housing management services to customers living within our independent housing properties, taking a holistic approach, ensuring an enhanced service is offered. You'll be seen a someone who is able to deliver a reliable customer service in a professional and confident manner. You'll have great communications skills and will be a natural problem solver, ensuring the job gets done. Our aim is to enable our customers to live as independently as possible in their homes, ensuring that additional support is put into place when needed. You'll be present in the community meeting customers in their homes and will be a dedicated point of contact. You'll have the ability to adapt your day to suit change in demands and won't be phased by a busy workload. You may also find yourself, arranging scheme meetings, facilitating social inclusion activities and completing health and safety risk assessments, so no two days will be the same. About you You will come to the role with knowledge of the housing sector and current housing issues. Alongside a strong understanding of the needs of older, disabled and vulnerable customers and the services that can be accessed for them. You'll be able to demonstrate your resilience, giving examples of when you have worked in challenging, emotive situations and how you've been able to apply empathy and patience. You will be a natural problem solver, a 'can do' person, always keen to see a task through to the end. You'll also consider yourself to be very organised, a strong record keeper and someone who is able to meet deadlines. You will be a great communicator, able to adapt your style to your audience and you will be confident in your admin and IT skills, to complete the 'paperwork' element of the role. As you'll be out and about in the community you will need a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes. Job Introduction An exciting opportunity to join a team of dedicated social care practitioners and work jointly with partner agencies to support those who are homeless. The Homeless Intervention Team have the following criteria - <ul><li>Aged 18 or over </li><li>Requiring single or couple occupancy accommodation </li><li>Appear to have care and/or support needs which would benefit from further assessment or intervention from ASC to contribute to sustainable accommodation or relief of homelessness </li><li>Not currently open to another Adult Social Care (ASC) team or Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) </li><li>Open to the Housing Team with an active homelessness relief or prevention duty (Housing Act 1996), or are a verified rough sleeper (with or without an open duty under the Housing Act 1996)</li></ul>The team sit within Statutory Services and under the Safeguarding Adults Statutory Service. The team work alongside partner agencies to undertake S42 Enquiries and Care Act Assessments. To undertake direct work with individual people and their families as part of an agreed plan, and within this promoting their health and wellbeing. To be the 'Lead Professional' for every person you work with ensuring timely, effective and efficient assessment, plan, management, and delivery of services to people and families. Where appropriate, chair professional and formal meetings in relation to people, e.g. multi-disciplinary meetings, conferences and where appropriate safeguarding and best interest meetings. Contribute to team's duty rotas, ensuring that people, professionals, and other members of the public are responded to appropriately and promptly. Be part of the team, participating in team meetings and supporting colleagues. Where qualified as an Approved Mental Health Practitioner, undertake Mental Health Act Assessments in accordance with statutory guidance. Maintain and further develop professional knowledge and skills through continuous professional development, reflective practice, and other development opportunities. The expectation of BCP Council Social Care that all professionally qualified staff will undertake relevant training to meet the statutory responsibilities of the BCP Council in line with the Professional Capabilities Framework and any relevant Knowledge and Skills Statements. Maintain knowledge of relevant research, government guidance, legislation and best practice in relation to people and families, and the specialist service area to which appointed. In accordance with professional case recording standards, maintain case records on local information recording systems and ensure these records are maintained in line with legislative requirements and our best practice guidance, policy and procedure.
