What we are looking for We are looking for two Building Maintenance Surveyor's to join our new Housing Operations and DLO (Direct Labour Organisation) Team. Babergh and Mid-Suffolk District Councils are going through an exciting period of change, with a new operating model being developed for the DLO within our Housing Directorate. The DLO oversees the maintenance of housing repairs and voids with some planned work activities and is supported by several contractors. The DLO has its own trade team. This is your opportunity to join our new team at inception and to help shape the future of our Housing Operations and DLO. About the role Working from our Great Wenham Hub, or other site-based working environment as required, you will deliver a full range of professional surveying services within Housing Operations and the DLO. Reporting to the Senior Surveyor, your work will include, but is not limited to providing specifications of complex works, managing and coordinating works, mutual inspections, disrepairs, inspections, and complaint resolutions. In your role, you will: <ul> <li>ensure statutory and industry best practices and compliance, delivering the highest technical standards </li> <li>complete surveying and inspections of works, creating maximum efficiency and ensuring key performance indicators are maintained</li> <li>provide expert technical advice, working with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure that works are delivered within agreed timeframes and to the desired quality of workmanship</li> <li>offer support and guidance on building-related matters and enquiries, often of a complex or multifaceted nature</li> <li>contribute to continuous improvements and help deliver top-quartile performance within the DLO and across Building Services</li> <li>ensure all surveying tasks are completed within set timescales to meet work deadlines and comply with policies and procedures</li> <li>support the Senior Surveyor in the planning and execution of surveying works</li> <li>work with the Assets Team providing surveying duties around complex surveying works, major and planned works, compliance, feeding into stock condition surveys and updating stock information on databases. </li> </ul>The role will be part of an out-of-hours call-out rota. About you <ul> <li>You will Ideally hold an RICS accredited surveying degree or a minimum HNC standard and a NEBOSH Certificate in Health and Safety.</li> <li>We are looking for experienced Surveyors with a thorough working knowledge of current and appropriate building works legislation, including CDM and Health and Safety.</li> <li>You will have a good technical knowledge of housing properties and their building and service components as well as sound knowledge of building defects and solutions and the ability to estimate building costs.</li> <li>A team player, you will need to be an effective problem solver, demonstrating attention to detail in your work and strong organisation and communication skills.</li> <li>A full valid driving licence is essential to carry out the duties of this role.</li> </ul>If you think you have what it takes to be successful in these surveyor roles, even if you don't meet all the requirements, please apply.
