Neighbourhood Officer Location: We have several vacancies across the city. We are recruiting Neighbourhood Officers to work as part of Sheffield City Council's Housing and Neighbourhood Service. This is an exciting opportunity and we're looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals who have experience of and enjoy working with people and delivering excellent customer service. Experience in housing management would be beneficial but is not essential. Neighbourhood Officers perform a key role in delivering service to the residents of Sheffield. They are front line staff who work on a patch-based approach to manage council housing tenancies. It's a very varied role which often requires lots of partnership working and thinking outside the box to help support some of Sheffield's most vulnerable residents. No two days are usually the same for a Neighbourhood Officer! They manage their own calendars to prioritise their workload and book appointments with customers. They visit a variety of customers in their homes most days, including proactive tenancy visits, which most customers receive annually, and reactive visits to manage issues such as anti-social behaviour, untidy gardens or hoarding. A typical visit might include <ul> <li>Speaking to someone who wants to report anti-social behaviour such as noise nuisance or threats of violence</li> <li>It could be to speak to a tenant accused of causing anti-social behaviour to discuss the allegations against them and warn them about the risk of breaching their tenancy conditions.</li> <li>To give them advice on rehousing to another property if they want to move.</li> <li>To talk about what support someone might need and submit an appropriate referral.</li> <li>To discuss other breaches of their tenancy conditions such as an overgrown and untidy garden or because their home is hoarded or is in an unacceptable condition which causes nuisance to other residents because it smells or is attracting vermin.</li> <li>Some visits are urgent emergency visits such as to organise a lock change after the Police have forced entry or to carry out a welfare check where there are concerns for a tenant who cannot be contacted.</li> </ul>Neighbourhood Officers also spend time in the office most days where they work in teams to support each other and cover a duty rota for the customer access point. They keep accurate records of all customer interactions and manage their own time to ensure cases are progressed in a timely manner as well as attend a variety of professional meetings to contribute to both individual customer issues and wider neighbourhood concerns. They engage with a variety of customers and are often a key professional involved with some of Sheffield's most vulnerable residents. They sometimes work in partnership with multiple agencies including the Police, Social Care, Mental Health Services, Youth workers and drug and alcohol services, with the primary aim of ensuring tenants have access to any support they might need to maintain their tenancy whilst balancing this with using procedures to enforce tenancy conditions when necessary. We are looking to recruit experienced Housing Support Workers to join our bank pool working across our Rotherham services. You will have experience of working with individuals with a complexity of needs, supporting individuals to live more independently and increasing their opportunities of move on to more appropriate, longer-term accommodation. Our hours of work range from Mon - Fri 9-5 to Mon - Sat 9-9pm. Duties and responsibilities Support <ul><li>Identify and deliver person centered support, identifying aspirations and need </li></ul><ul><li>Case work a small caseload of individuals focusing on successful, independent move on. </li></ul><ul><li>Develop professional relationships with a range of external agencies to collaboratively deliver support. </li></ul><ul><li>Actively engage with clients on a 1:1 basis, promote activities and meaningful use of time. </li></ul><ul><li>Support and motivate clients, encouraging them to achieve personal goals. </li></ul>Housing Management <ul><li>Work collaboratively with RMBC housing teams to aid positive move on </li></ul><ul><li>Support clients to maintain and sustain their accommodation whilst working towards more independent accommodation. </li></ul><ul><li>Support clients to complete and understand their occupancy and related documentation including move on applications, tenancy agreements, property inventory, applications for housing benefit. </li></ul><ul><li>Support clients to maximise their income, ensuring that housing and other welfare benefit claims are submitted and maintain </li></ul><ul><li>Clean and prepare rooms ready for relet </li></ul><ul><li>Manage accommodation adhering to Health and Safety regulations </li></ul>Qualifications and Experience <ul><li>Experience of providing support to vulnerable people in a housing environment. </li></ul><ul><li>Experience of working with individuals who have multiple and complex needs. </li></ul><ul><li>The ability to develop positive and proactive working relationships with hard to engage clients. </li></ul><ul><li>Experience of delivering Trauma Informed support. </li></ul><ul><li>Knowledge of the Housing benefits and welfare benefit system. </li></ul><ul><li>Experience of Safety Planning / Risk Assessment and Support Planning. </li></ul><ul><li>Basic IT skills and effective case work. </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. </li></ul>Essential Requirements <ul><li>Enhanced DBS </li></ul><ul><li>The right to work in the UK </li></ul>Don't meet every single requirement? Housing Support Worker

Housing Support Worker We are recruiting for a Full time, permanent position. Salary Starts at £25,115, rises to £26,425 after 12 months and to £27,355 after 24 months (pro rata) Job Purpose To provide intensive housing management support to vulnerable individuals with the intention of delivering a high-quality support programme that promotes client independence; providing a successful and sustainable move on and other measurable outcomes. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and expanding supported accommodation project in Sheffield that provide support to offenders or individuals at risk of offending.
