Role: Independent Reviewing Officer Location: London Borough Of Islington Team: Looked After Children Pay: Up to £44 ph Hybrid Working: 3 Days a week Contract: Locum About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our Children Looked After Team in the London Borough of Islington. This role is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated social work professional who is committed to improving outcomes for looked-after children. As an IRO, you will play a vital role in ensuring that children and young people in care receive the best possible support, advocacy, and protection. Key Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Chair reviews for children in care, ensuring that each child's voice is heard and that their needs and wishes are central to the planning process.</li> <li>Monitor and review care plans, working closely with social workers, foster carers, and other professionals to ensure that all actions are carried out in a timely and effective manner.</li> <li>Advocate for children and young people, ensuring their best interests are always represented and promoting stability in placements.</li> <li>Challenge and address any shortfalls in practice, escalating issues as needed to ensure high standards of care and safeguarding.</li> <li>Provide quality assurance and oversight, making sure that each child's case is compliant with statutory requirements and best practices.</li> <li>Produce high-quality reports that reflect the outcomes of reviews, highlighting key issues and follow-up actions.</li></ul>Requirements: <ul> <li>Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.</li> <li>Extensive post-qualifying experience, ideally within children's social care, and a deep understanding of issues affecting looked-after children.</li> <li>Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and guidance, including the Children Act 1989 and the Care Planning Regulations.</li> <li>Excellent communication, analytical, and advocacy skills, with the ability to challenge constructively and hold professionals accountable.</li> <li>A commitment to promoting positive change and improving outcomes for children in care.</li></ul>What We Offer: <ul> <li>Competitive pay of up to £44 per hour.</li> <li>Access to continuous training and professional development opportunities.</li> <li>A supportive and collaborative working environment.</li> <li>The chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of vulnerable children and young people.</li></ul>Why choose Sheldon Phillips to find your next role?
