People can stay in the service for up to two years, with the aim being to move people on to lead more independent lives in their own accommodation. There is an out-of-hours housing related on-call service. Service users can also be signposted to appropriate services for other, none housing-related support. How you will make a difference Working with an allocation of tenants, you will provide a robust intensive housing management service, supporting vulnerable individuals who experience mental ill health in promoting independence and empowering sustainment of tenancies. You will be required to assess the needs and risks of tenants and work in a person centred and personalised manner in order to enable individuals to sustain their tenancy. The role involves tenancy sign ups and property re-lets, processing referrals, day to day running of a service, and health and safety of the schemes we manage. We provide support families with housing, welfare benefits, mental health, education, and training opportunities. Staff utilise a Support Plan to prioritise key work tasks and activities on a one-to-one basis and as a group. Staff also offer advice and information to empower and equip the women to live independently, within a safe and stable environment free from violence and abuse. Referrals are mainly sourced through the `Routes-to-Support portal managed by Women`s Aid, but the service also accepts direct referrals in line with its internal criteria. The refuge has 16 self-contained flats with a communal lounge, a communal kitchen, a children`s classroom, as well as a communal garden area. It is funded by Birmingham City Council and the property is owned by Green Square Accord. About the role The role is for those who would like to support victims of domestic abuse and their children. Primarily, you will be assisting families to source permanent housing and re-settle back into the community where they will feel safe and free from violence. We do expect the candidate to support service users in the following areas: Provide support to service users to complete a housing benefit application form. Support service users with all aspects of maintaining their tenancy, e.g. making rental payments budgeting and managing their finances. Liaise with our internal Customer First and arrange for void properties to be ready for re-let. Record void vacation and re-let information manually and electronically. Provide support to service users to complete a homelessness application, with the view of securing permanent housing. Assist service user to collate evidence-based documentation to support their housing application. Assist the service user with preparing for appeals where necessary. Relief Housing Support Worker

We are looking to recruit experienced Housing Support Workers to join our bank pool working across our Rotherham services. You will have experience of working with individuals with a complexity of needs, supporting individuals to live more independently and increasing their opportunities of move on to more appropriate, longer-term accommodation. Our hours of work range from Mon - Fri 9-5 to Mon - Sat 9-9pm.
