Accommodation Office, Residential Services - FICS
This full-time post is available immediately on a permanent term basis.
This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working - some time on campus and some from home but as a customer facing service, we need to maintain a presence on campus throughout the year and postholder will need to work on campus for us to achieve this. In order to meet the needs of our students there will be periods throughout the year when homeworking is not feasible.
Summary of the role
As part of Residential Services, the Accommodation Office are a key customer-facing team; providing information and advice to prospective and current students regarding their accommodation at the University of Exeter. We process all applications for approximately 6,500 University-owned, managed or approved partner bedspaces, including allocating and issuing contracts, as well as providing guidance on private sector options.
You will undertake all tasks related to ensuring we maximise occupancy levels within our accommodation. The role will involve the processing of accommodation applications: reviewing applications, allocating to available bedspaces in line with our allocations procedures, sending out offers and ensuring that all residents are issued with an accommodation contract.
You will also administer any amendments to contracts such as moving students between rooms and terminating tenancies.
You will liaise with other internal and external stakeholders to ensure that our students receive an efficient service and that our accommodation provision meets the requirements of the contract and the Student Accommodation Code.
You will need to develop a wide knowledge of the university's accommodation options available so that you can promote university accommodation to students and their families both in person at prospective student events, and virtually via online events and written enquiries, in a professional way.
You will also need to be able to give advice to enquirers who may need to find housing in the city and be able to offer them guidance on seeking their accommodation.
Attention to detail, accuracy and a high standard in both written and oral communications are essential requirements for the role, as you will routinely meet with students in person, speak with them on the telephone and answer written enquiries.
About you
We seek someone who has strong administration skills and is able to deliver a positive student experience.
You will also need to be a good communicator, be a problem solver and have experience of being an effective member of a team working on tasks. You will play your part in maintaining a positive team culture.
You will need to be passionate about delivering an outstanding customer service experience, along with possessing the ability to deal with student issues tactfully, sensitively and with total confidentiality.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a student housing role.
