An exciting opportunity has become available to work in the Accommodation Team, within the Council's Housing Needs Service.

The Housing Needs Service is responsible for preventing homelessness in Wakefield and providing support and assistance to those who are already homeless.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, organised and open minded person to join the team as an Accommodation Officer. This role involves supporting people who have been placed in temporary accommodation to move-on into suitable settled accommodation, to ensure that the conditions of the temporary placement are being met and to address any presenting issues, such as repairs, arrears, and anti-social behaviour.

The post of the Accommodation Officer is a very varied and rewarding role which will give the post holder the opportunity to work closely with vulnerable people in the Wakefield district and help discharge the Council's duties under the Homelessness Reduction Act.

This role involves holding a caseload and visiting people in their temporary accommodation across the Wakefield district, so the ability to travel flexibly is essential. Car mileage payments are applicable and pool cars may be available for carrying out the visits.
