About The Role
Role: Affordable Housing Enabling Officer
Location: Hybrid (Chorley and South Ribble)
Contract: Full time (36.15 hours per week) / Fixed Term Contract (24 months)
Salary: £40,476 - £42,708 plus 6% car allowance
Closing Date: 25 March 2025
Are you a housing professional with experience in affordable housing enabling and delivery? Are you passionate about social housing and have the skills in influencing and engaging stakeholders to bring them onboard with solutions to deliver the homes needed to meet our local needs? Working across Chorley and South Ribble, this new post has been created to drive up affordable housing delivery, working with our RPs, developers and other key partners.

What you'll be getting up to
- Develop new ways to ensure we are maximising developer contributions for affordable housing , delivering new homes of the right type and tenure to meet our communities' needs.
- Establish strategic relationships with our developing RPs and develop effective mechanisms for monitoring and supporting the overall programme for affordable housing across the two boroughs
- Work closely with colleagues across teams within the two Councils to develop a strong knowledge base of existing affordable housing stock , how its allocated and establish systems for ensuring lets are compliant with legal agreements and ensure our customers are benefitting.
- Lead on key strategic projects including the review of the RP Framework (Chorley) and also support the development of key housing strategies and planning policies.
- Support the operation of the Councils' Low-Cost Home Ownership Schemes
- An experienced housing professional (ideally a Chartered Member of the CIH or equivalent ), with excellent understand in the mechanisms for affordable housing enabling, including the planning process and also Homes England capital programme. The postholder will have strong communication skills with the ability to seek out solutions and promote the value to be gained in social housing delivery
- This role requires some travel around our boroughs. You should have a valid driving licence or the equivalent mobility.
