Housing officer
Job Description

At Cornwall Housing, we're passionate about delivering homes and services to the communities of Cornwall.
This is a fantastic opportunity to deliver a customer-focussed housing service to our tenants in our local communities and neighbourhoods. We're looking for people with housing and tenancy management skills/experience to join the team. But your approach is just as important - we want people who care about our neighbourhoods and the residents who live there. We need talented people who can work with others and who want to make a difference! Join our Cornwall Housing team for the career opportunities... and stay for the community!

About the role

The Rough Sleeper Accommodation Officer will provide a generic housing management service to tenants that live within the Rough Sleeper Accommodation Project (RSAP), Local Authority Housing Fund (LAHF) and Housing First (HF) properties. The properties are non-secure, temporary accommodation for individuals, couples and families.

As part of the team you will work on all aspects of the service including allocations, liaison with support workers, all enforcement issues, multi-agency work, and providing a comprehensive service to meet the client groups' needs.

About you

To be successful, you'll be:
  • Putting our customers at the heart of what you do, listening and then working with others to resolve anti-social behaviour, improve neighbourhoods and create places people can be proud to call home.
  • Proactively working your networks, finding the right people who can help, whether it's public services, statutory agencies or the voluntary sector, and bringing people together to solve problems. Being that person who makes something happen.
  • Challenging others where its right to do so, whether that's taking action against people who breach their tenancy or commit anti-social behaviour, or its simply something we've said we'll do, and we've not done it. It's doing the right thing, and not the easy thing.

What you'll get from us in return is:
  • A challenge like no other - Cornwall is unique and so are we!
  • A highly competitive total package that includes a decent salary (with annual negotiations with recognised trade unions for cost-of-living salary increases), Local Government Pension Scheme, 23 days annual leave plus bank hols (rising to 28 after 5 years' continuous service) with the option to buy more, family friendly policies, and business flexi-time
  • A senior management team who will listen and support you, and encourage your ideas and creative thinking
