About The Role

Within the Housing Planning and Economic Regeneration Division of the Council resides the Property Compliance Team. The Asset Management team analyse and validate data, create programmes and commission the Programme Delivery Team to undertake agreed programmes. Working very closely with these teams, the Property Compliance Team (consisting of Building Safety, Landlord's Compliance and Mechanical & Engineering teams) deliver the robust management of statutory compliance related activities (inspections, testing and certification).

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our Compliance Team which is seeking a Building Safety Manager, to:

1. To take responsibility for co-ordination and management of all building safety matters across the Council's social housing stock to meet legislative requirements.

2. To oversee the safe management of the Council's in-scope social housing buildings.

3. To oversee the implementation of controls in respect of building safety on a day-to-day basis and effectively manage safety across the Council's social housing stock.

4. To ensure that controls are implemented in respect of all building work carried out in the social housing stock to which the role relates.

5. To engage with Programme Delivery colleagues who are responsible for managing projects and Development Team colleagues commissioning new build and pre-built additions to the Council's social housing stock.

6. To ensure the Building Safety Cases are managed and kept up to date.

7. To assist with resident engagement within high-rise and/or higher-risk building stock, particularly in ensuring that safety concerns are recorded, monitored and dealt with appropriately - and being available as a resource to attend meetings / provide clarifications.

8. To engage with internal Housing teams to ensure that roles are performed effectively in line with the Council's legislative requirements (relevant to this remit).

9. To perform any other reasonable tasks that ensure the effective management of the Council's social housing stock for which the role is responsible, to the fulfilment of our customer service objectives.

Regarding development and progression, skills and knowledge will continue to grow in this post through training, on-the-job learning, and other development initiatives that are role specific but also those supported by the Council's wider arrangements.

About The Team You'll Be Working In

This Team ensures all regulatory and legislative responsibilities for, and not limited to, gas safety, electrical safety, the management asbestos containing material, fire safety, water hygiene and legionella prevention, other associated mechanical and electrical services are adequately checked for quality standards. This Team is seeking a Building Safety manager to focus upon building safety compliance.

About You

1. Experience and knowledge of building safety with supporting qualifications.

2. Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team and with partnering contractors.

3. Working knowledge of IT based systems (particularly Word, Excel and Outlook and compliance management databases).

4. Ability to review internal processes and explore and deliver innovative solutions to improve current ways of working.

5. Customer focused approach with a helpful and cooperative attitude.

6. Ability to make site visits and travel in/around the borough when required.
