Job Description

Salary range: £40,755 - £43,299 (pro rata) p.a. inc. London weighting
Contract: Fixed term - until 31 March 2026 (with the possibility of an extension)
Hours of work: 36 hours per week
Location: Civic centre and other locations from time to time

The Post

Are you passionate about empowering communities and making a real difference in people's lives? Brent Council is looking for a dynamic and motivated Community Engagement Officer to join our Community Engagement team.

In this exciting role, you'll lead and support a wide range of community engagement and consultation initiatives across one of London's most diverse boroughs. From organising Brent Connect Meetings to promoting resident participation through the Go Vocal platform, you'll be at the heart of shaping how we connect with our communities.

Key Responsibilities include to:
  • Deliver inclusive and high-quality engagement activities across the borough.
  • Organise and manage community events, including logistics and promotion.
  • Support and guide council teams in delivering meaningful consultations.
  • Promote and monitor participation in council grant programmes.
  • Act as a key liaison with community groups and voluntary organisations.
  • Collect and analyse data to showcase the impact of engagement work.
The Person

We are looking for someone with proven experience in community engagement, outreach, or public consultation. You will have the ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends and strong organisational and communication skills. You will also be a collaborative team player with a passion for diversity and inclusion and be confident in using digital tools and platforms like Microsoft Office and MS Teams.
