Job summary

ABLHealth and Wirral Council are partnered to deliver the Stop Smoking Serviceacross Wirral. It seeks to work collaboratively with communities to support thetransformation of services for the local population. The service will provideintegrated behaviour support for smoking cessation embedded in sustainablebehaviour change and positive wellbeing. We offer up to 12 weeks supportthrough an individual quit programme through weekly tailored advice and supportfrom a Specialist Practitioner.

Main duties of the job

Were looking for a community-focused individual to join our Wirralteam! This varied, rewarding role works under the guidance of the Project Lead to drive engagement, support innovation, and contribute to ongoing service development. Youll be responsible for implementing ABLs Community Engagement Strategy and promoting the Wirral Stop Smoking Service across the borough. Working closely with our communications team, youll help raise the profile of the service through creative campaigns and community initiatives.

Youll engage with local partners, primary and secondary care colleagues, and community organisations to build strong relationships, develop referral pathways, and explore opportunities for collaboration. The role involves organising and delivering training sessions, attending local meetings and events, and representing ABL to promote Stop Smoking Wirral. Youll monitor referral data and use insights to shape engagement activity, contribute to reports, and support communications through social media, events, and awareness campaigns.

Were looking for someone innovative, organised, and open to new ideas who enjoys working collaboratively and is confident presenting to groups. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to support events. Job responsibilities

Youwill be the Community Engagement Officer, for Wirral Stop Smoking Servicecovering all areas of the Borough with a focus on areas of deprivation andhigher smoking prevalence.

Youwill be expected to lead on community engagement and drive awareness of theservice through our promotions, social media and engagement activities. Youwill be expected to increase referrals into the service by promoting communityengagement and building long-lasting relationships with local partners andother varied stakeholders. This will involve being responsible for developingand maintaining strong, positive and long-lasting relationships with a widerange of stakeholder groups at district level, including but not limited toleisure services, the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprises(VCFSE) sector, and community services as well as GP practices and maternityservices.

Youwill be a motivated, passionate, organised and proactive communicator, withexperience of working in a community setting. ABL take a strengths-focused,asset-based approach to community delivery, looking to innovate and partner,not replicate existing delivery. The role will require dynamic working whichembraces the vision and values we wish to establish for the IWS supportingpeople to achieve healthy lifestyles.

No twodays will be the same in this varied and flexible role. If you are ascomfortable spending a day with the team as you are working independently andconfidently with new people and are highly organised this could be the job foryou.

This isa demanding job, but you will not be on your own. ABLs highly experienced andfriendly multi-disciplinary team of Health and Social Care professionals,Business Intelligence, Service Development, Governance, Finance and BusinessDevelopment are there to support. Additionally, existing experienced deliveryteams will be available to support you to drive the Service forward.

Main Duties and responsibilities:

Thispost will work under the line management of the Project Lead for the Wirral StopSmoking service to ensure engagement is aligned to overall service needs. Therole will be varied, challenging, and rewarding as you support and develop theservice through implementation, delivery, ongoing innovation and servicedevelopment.

Implementing the ABL Community Engagement Strategy to promotethe Wirral Stop Smoking Service.

Working with ABLs communicationteam to help raise theservice profile, create and implement the Communications Plan.

Engaging local services and partners to ensure local awareness andexplore partnership opportunities and co-production activities.

Working closely with Project Leads and operational colleagues tomanage the referral rates and develop partnerships with all potentialreferrers in the borough.

Organising/setting up training opportunities to train thevoluntary and community sector, faith groups, and the Wirral workforce in VBAtraining.

Monitoring and interpreting data to manage referral targets.

Build and maintain relationships with Primary and Secondary carecolleagues.

Attending local meetings on a regular basis where required torepresent ABL, promote Stop Smoking Wirral and maintain local partnerships(this will involve some public speaking/presenting to small/medium groups ofpeople).

Working collaboratively with all members of the Wirral StopSmoking team and undertaking work in other areas when necessary

Supporting the monitoring and evaluation of the service and usingformal and informal feedback to constructivelyshape and develop the service.

Update the partnership database with all contacts includingrequired follow up contact and strategic developmentsrequired.

Attending all relevant team meetings including district teammeetings and community engagement meetings,providing engagement updates and contributing to quarterly reports as directed.

Reporting against relevant targets, providing regular updates asrequested on progress of project.

Supporting with communications strategies (e.g. public openevents, training and awareness raising sessions,communications materials, social media, etc) to promote the service and capturereferrals (occasional weekend and evening work may be required to support with events etc).

Innovative and open minded to new ideas andpiloting of different sessions, partnerships or engagementopportunities.

Supporting all co-production activities with local residents andstakeholders to support ongoing developmentof the service.

Leading and attending local events across the Borough.

Working with the Stakeholder & Partnerships Lead and Head ofService to oversee commitments from the community fund.

Skills & Competencies required:
