Community Liaison Coordinator

The Community Liaison Co-Ordinator will be responsible for effective engagement and liaison with the residential communities of Chester, Warrington and Birkenhead, working closely with colleagues across the University campuses, as well as maintaining productive relationships with key external stakeholders and statutory partners.

This post has become integral to supporting the increasing demands placed upon Student Support Services in fostering and maintaining positive community relations in all areas where students reside. A key expectation of the role is to take a proactive approach to community liaison activities, developing and maintaining strong partnerships with Cheshire West and Chester Council, landlords, emergency services, local residents' groups, and students. Supporting the successful transition of Level 5 students into private sector accommodation and promoting responsible citizenship and community-focused behaviours will be a central element of the role.

The postholder will be responsible for preparing reports, briefing papers, presentations and other documentation to support the Proctor in decision-making, stakeholder engagement and the promotion of community relations initiatives. They will also provide operational and representational support during University Open Days, applicant events and other community-facing activities, acting as an ambassador for the University and providing guidance on student community engagement matters.

In addition, the Community Liaison Co-Ordinator will represent the University on a range of local community forums, partnership groups and multi-agency networks, contributing to collaborative initiatives aimed at improving community safety and wellbeing. The role will involve participation in community audits, neighbourhood inspections and safer city initiatives alongside local authorities, emergency services and partner organisations, helping to identify emerging issues, inform preventative action and strengthen relationships between the University, its students and the wider community.

The post holder will be expected to have a flexible approach to work as meetings or support with departmental activities may require evening or weekend work e.g. meetings, Open Days, Welcome Week, and supporting with community incidents may arise outside the usual working hours designated to the post.
