About the role:
The Community Manager role is the front-facing representative of King's College London within the London Institute of Healthcare Engineering (LIHE) and the James Clark Maxwell Building (JCMB). This role focuses on delivering a world-class experience to all internal and external building users while overseeing the smooth operation of all public spaces. The position is autonomous, requiring proactive engagement with building users, prompt issue resolution, and the continuous maintenance of high standards across the site.

Essential criteria
1. Excellent customer service with ability to exceed customer expectations
2. High level of literacy and numeracy, including Computer literacy with knowledge of all Microsoft operating systems, Word, Excel etc.
3. Excellent oral & written communication skills
4. Experience in complaint handling and communicating with staff at all levels
5. Self-starter and good organiser with a meticulous eye for detail
6. Excellent interpersonal skills, flexible approach, and good team member
7. Able to use initiative and work autonomously, be proactive, creative, and empowering approach to work
8. Professional and positive approach to work
Desirable criteria
1. Degree in a relevant subject
2. Leading a Team
3. Familiarity with working in the Higher Education Sector
4. Understanding the running of Buildings and Operations

Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact in LIHE and JCMB, maintaining a visible, welcoming presence with a proactive and solutions-driven approach.
- The Community Manager will be supported by Waterloo Campus Ops but will be expected to work autonomously in serving building users needs in a proactive manner.
- Raise the profile of the Community Manager and Community Hosts, by being instrumental in delivering a world class experience for all building users.
- The Community Manager will ensure all building users receive a H&S and Fire induction when first arriving on site.
- Be the main contact for any issues that arise within the managed buildings.
- Support internal/external events, managing the registration of guests and being a point of contact for issues/queries.
- Take ownership of all functions carried out via our reception i.e., wayfinding, knowledge of campus activity and responding to general enquiries.
- Work alongside the CSS (Cleaning and Security Services) to support a safe and clean environment.
- Undertake regular audits across the space to ensure we are providing a clean, safe and hazard free environment i.e., cleaning, Health & Safety
- Act in the capacity of the Evacuation Controller for their managed buildings in the event of a fire alarm.
- Managing the provision, procurement, and management of supplies for the buildings e.g., consumables, sundries, stationery
- Maintaining first aid spaces in managed buildings and all associated equipment and supplies. i.e., first aid boxes, defibrillators etc.
- Log any building issues via the Service Desk and monitor their progress through Planon, liaising with other FM departments to expedite resolution. Communicating issues to building users and updating as necessary.
- Act as the first point of contact in LIHE/JCMB and associated buildings for dealing with any accessibility issues building users and guests may have and seeking resolution to these, liaising with other FM departments as necessary.
- To report near misses, accidents, and injuries via the Accident Management System and following up on actions raised.
- Make recommendations on innovation and issues with ideas around resolution.
- Report acute situations to seniors in real time, who will coordinate and oversee the wider response
