Location: Based in Harrogate but covering Former Harrogate District

We are looking to recruit a talented team player into this varied, interesting and highly rewarding role of Community Safety Officer, to be based in Harrogate covering the former Harrogate locality. The postholder will be required to have a flexible approach to working as may be required to support colleagues in other parts of the county.

Based within the Community Safety Hub you will work closely with a broad range of partners to deliver our local community safety priorities, adopting an early intervention approach to tackle emerging issues. You will be required to work in partnership to develop and deliver action plans to deal with a range of antisocial behaviour and community-based issues that can have a huge impact on the quality of life of our residents, some of whom are vulnerable.

You must have effective communication, reporting and interpersonal skills, the ability to use your own initiative, work under pressure and contribute towards the delivery of targets and objectives set out for the service and contribute towards a continual improvement within the service. You will be required to take lead responsibilities within the multi-agency team and be competent in the use of powers and tools that are available to deal with complex and challenging issues.

To succeed in the role of Community Safety Officer, you must have experience of working within a multiagency environment, as well as the necessary skills such as confidence, enthusiasm and commitment which is required to undertake this rewarding role.

You will be required to participate in meetings using MS Teams and in person. You must hold a full and clean current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.

Although some training will be provided where there are knowledge gaps, it is expected that you will have a good grasp of legislation relevant to anti-social behaviour, crime and disorder. You will be a competent IT user.

If successful, you will be required to undertake NPPV2 police vetting prior to commencement in post.

The Council operates a flexible working policy and there is opportunity for some agile/home working subject to approval. The main office location is Harrogate.
