Community Safety Officer
About the role
This is a hands-on, community-based role where no two days are the same. As member of the Neighbourhood Housing Team, it is how you work with people that matters. Focusing on delivery of tenancy enforcement, focusing on managing cases of anti-social behaviour, playing a key role in supporting Neighbourhood Housing Officers, promoting early intervention and ensuring a consistent and high quality services for our residents. Building and maintaining strong partnerships with external agencies including the Police and Social Services while managing individual case with care and professionalism. Contract Type: 1 Permanent role. Existing CHL employees are welcome to apply as a secondment opportunity, but please discuss this with your manager before applying.
Base: Hybrid working - working from office, home, site and in the community as needed. This role requires you to typically work from the office at least 1-2 day/s per week.

What you'll need to be successful:
- Confidence working with people in challenging situations - you'll build long-term relationships with residents, manage sensitive conversations, support vulnerable tenants, and take enforcement action where needed. You'll also represent us in multi-agency meetings, so being calm, credible and professional matters.
- Experience of delivering a technical service and using legislation - You'll need to be able to demonstrate a knowledge of anti-social behaviour law, legislation, consumer standards, and the RESPECT Charter for ASB, or a similar technical field with experience of working in a housing related field or equivalent, with a working knowledge of anti-social behaviour or conflict management is essential to this post
- Proven ability to conduct visits and carry out interviews - You'll lead visits and interviews and need to be able to appropriately challenge and deal with difficult conversations. Following up with full written records of interviews and investigations, so experience in good case management is important.
- Experience of building positive and trusted relationships - You'll need excellent communications skills, with the ability to adapt your style to different situations. A calm and composed approach under pressure is essential, as is the ability to convey clear, concise and clear message even in challenging circumstances.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle - this is a patch-based role covering around 500 homes where visibility matters. You'll be out meeting residents, inspecting homes and estates, and taking proactive steps to improve neighbourhoods.
