At Flat Iron, we're all about remarkable steaks, accessible to everyone, made possible by passionate people who love what they do.

We're growing, with more restaurants on the way and exciting plans ahead. As we grow, making sure we're looking after our people, our guests and our restaurants has never been more important.

That's why we're looking for our first Health & Food Safety Manager to join the team.

This is a new role with a real opportunity to make an impact. You'll take ownership of food safety and health & safety across Flat Iron, helping us build the right standards, systems and ways of working to support our teams as we grow.

We're not looking for someone who simply ticks boxes. We want someone who gets hospitality, enjoys being out in restaurants and knows how to bring people with them.

What you'll be doing
  • Leading food safety and health & safety across our restaurants, making sure our standards are clear, practical and consistently followed.
  • Managing our audit programme, working closely with Food Alert and restaurant teams to turn findings into lasting improvements.
  • Taking the lead on serious incidents, investigations and insurance claims, identifying root causes and preventing repeat issues.
  • Working with our Operations Managers and GMs to coach, support and challenge teams on compliance.
  • Owning our First Aid, Fire Marshal and Licensing training programmes, making sure every restaurant has the right training in place.
  • Partnering with our L&D team to create and deliver engaging health & safety training for our future leaders.
  • Supporting new restaurant openings and refurbishments, making sure everything is ready and compliant before we welcome our first guests.
  • Spotting trends, sharing insights and helping us continuously improve how we work.
What we're looking for

You'll have experience leading health & safety and food safety in a multi-site hospitality, retail or leisure business.

You'll also bring:
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, health & safety and environmental health legislation.
  • A NEBOSH National General Certificate (or equivalent) and Level 4 Food Safety qualification.
  • Experience managing audits, investigations and compliance programmes.
  • Confidence delivering training and making technical information easy to understand.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach, with the ability to influence people at all levels.
  • Great organisation, attention to detail and the ability to follow things through.
Most importantly, you'll understand that great food safety isn't just about policies and processes. It's about people, building good habits and helping restaurant teams do the right thing every day.

Why Flat Iron?

We're a growing business with ambitious plans, but we're just as focused on getting better at what we already do.

You'll be joining at an exciting time, with the opportunity to shape a brand-new role, influence how we work across our restaurants and build something that makes a genuine difference to our people and guests.

If you're passionate about food safety, love hospitality and want to be part of a business that's growing, we'd love to hear from you.
