We are looking for an experienced and committed staff member to join our team of Homeless Prevention Workers.

You will work with customers who are at risk of homelessness working with them in a targeted way to prevent homelessness. In particular this will involve working with customers around rent arrears, budgeting, maximising income, accessing benefits and managing the conditions of their home.

You should have excellent communication skills to be able to build positive relationships with customers and identify support needs, as well as working with other services. This may include working with customers with a range of issues including substance use, mental ill-health, and reluctance to engage with support services. An assertive and creative approach will be essential to help customers sustain their tenancy.

This role is working in the community visiting customers in their own homes and accompanying them to appointments with other services where appropriate.

This role is fixed term until March 2027, although may be extended subject to funding arrangements.

Full clean driving licence is desirable.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express themselves fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.

The duties of this post require the postholder to undertake a basic Criminal Record check (unspent convictions only) via the Disclosure and Barring Service
