Within Calderdale the Housing Options Team assist members of the public to identify a wide range of tenancy and other housing issues and provide advice and support to residents to remain in their home or find alternative suitable accommodation.

We are looking to recruit a Homelessness Prevention Officer to work directly, both virtually and face to face, with a range of individuals and families at the earliest stage possible to prevent their homelessness. The person appointed should have experience of undertaking homelessness prevention or tenancy support work and have knowledge of the rehousing options available to potentially homeless households in Calderdale.

The person appointed will have working knowledge of homelessness legislation, prevention and rehousing options available to potentially homeless households in Calderdale.

The successful applicant must have a full driving licence and use of a car is essential as is a clear enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. Applicants to posts that are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act will require a DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.

This role is based in the UK. Home Office guidance states that candidates must evidence their right to work in the UK prior to commencing employment, either as a UK or Irish citizen, under the EU Settlement scheme or having secured any other relevant work visa.
