Housing / Neighbourhood management
Job description
Full Time, Permanent

An opportunity has arisen for a Housing Enabling Manager to join Bristol City's Council's Housing Delivery Service, to drive the delivery of affordable homes in the city.

Bristol is a city in housing crisis with over 22,000 households on the Council's Housing Register and 1700 households in Temporary Accommodation. However, it is a city with great opportunities for housing and economic growth, with Europe's largest regeneration scheme at Bristol Temple Quarter, but also where we focus on the delivery of small sites and specialist supported housing provision. This role is integral to securing the delivery of affordable homes to meet need and maximise the opportunities the City has to offer.

The Enabling Service supports a range of housing solutions to implement the Homes for Bristol: Interim Affordable Housing Delivery Plan 2025-27 and the Better Lives in Bristol - Supported Housing Delivery Plan 2024-29

You will play a key part in ensuring that affordable housing is developed and delivered in line with the council's core values and priorities.

You will need to understand the external issues that impact affordable housing delivery from a local, regional, and national policy perspective, and how this relates to the city. You will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of affordable housing delivery, its funding and how key our Registered and other Provider partners are to delivery.

You'll have excellent communication skills and develop good working relationships with local and regional organisations, other service areas across the Council, and senior leaders and politicians, and be an experienced negotiator to ensure the best housing delivery outcomes for Bristol.

You will be responsible for supervising a Senior Enabling Officer and an Enabling Officer.

This is an exciting career opportunity in particular for someone who has worked in a Registered provider development role or who is currently fulfilling an Enabling role in a local authority.
