Job Title: Housing First (Homeless) Support Worker

Job Location: Walsall- clients are based in and around Walsall

Salary: £13.45ph

Contract type: Fixed Term until 31/03/2026

Working hours: 37 hours per week Monday to Friday

About the role

When you see someone sleeping rough because they do not have a place to call home, how does it make you feel? Does it make you stop and think "I wish I could help" if so, this opportunity might be perfect for you.

As a Support Worker you will provide person centred support to our service users to help them to retain their tenancy in line with the principles of the Housing First model. You will manage a caseload of up to 7 individuals who are likely to have a diverse range of support needs such as alcohol and substance abuse, mental health and physical disabilities.

Your day might be spent accompanying someone to attend appointments, carrying out well-being checks or liaising with other agencies to facilitate access to support. Doing out reach work to homeless people in the street and attending check ups by visiting clients properties.

Please note that if you are successful in this role, we will require a DBS check to be completed. Further details will be sent following offer.

About you

Ideally, you will have experience in housing, social care, benefits system, working with homeless, criminal justice or a related field and knowledge of Housing First principles and philosophy.

Experience of working with drug abuse, mental health and physical disabilities

Understand the importance of treating individuals with respect and be non-judgmental.

Be open and honest.

Can do attitude.

A Driving Licence and access to a vehicle is essential for this role as you will be required to travel and work across all sites within the service delivery area.
