Housing Officer Job Advert 2025/26
Are you passionate about making a real difference in people's lives? We are seeking a dedicated Housing Officer to join our frontline team, working directly with residents in temporary accommodation. This is a resident-facing role at the heart of our service, helping households move from temporary accommodation into more settled, long-term homes.
You will be the first point of contact for your resident portfolio, providing a full housing management service to homeless households. From accompanied viewings and property inspections, to supporting move-on from accommodation, you will ensure regular contact and high-quality support throughout their journey.
The service is currently undergoing a transformation programme aimed at improving its structure, with a renewed focus on operational efficiency and customer outcomes. This initiative is designed to streamline processes, enhance service delivery, and ensure that our housing and procurement operations are better aligned with the needs of our residents and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
While hybrid working may be available, please note this is a frontline role. Any remote work arrangements are subject to management approval and the needs of the service.
What We are Looking For
Tower Hamlets vision for our borough is that: people are aspirational, independent and have equal access to opportunities; we are a borough that our residents are proud of and love to live in; and we are a dynamic, outcomes-based council using digital innovation and partnership working to respond to the changing needs of our borough. We want people who aspire to our TOWER values: Together; Open; Willing; Excellent; Respect.
Tower Hamlets has a zero-tolerance approach to, and works to eradicate, all forms of discrimination on the basis of race, sex, disability, age, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marital status, status as a civil partner, gender, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy and maternity and looks to employ a diverse workforce representative of those groups. We recognise that people can also be disadvantaged by their social and economic circumstances, so we will work to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage caused by social class.
We welcome applicants interested in flexible working arrangements and also applicants who live in the borough.
