Housing Officer Leaving Care Service
BR9 £34,975 to £36,867 pa
Calling all housing support professionals looking for a unique and exciting new opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young people by supporting their housing journey!
We support 270 young people aged 18 plus who are cared for by the London Borough of Bromley. We have a dedicated Leaving Care Service with incredible Young Persons Advisors who support our young people to lead stable and successful independent lives. As part of our offer, we also have an Active Involvement Team with skilled workers whose primary goal is to create opportunities where our young people feel a sense of belonging and develop the necessary independent skills to successfully transition to adulthood. This team offers a variety of groupwork opportunities, and access to an Education Training and Employment Advisor as well as a Finance Wellbeing Officer.
About the role
We are currently recruiting a full time Housing Officer to improve services for care leavers, with a clear focus on those in supported accommodation as they transition into independent adult life. This is an exciting new role that sits in our multiskilled Active Involvement Team.
We are looking for someone with experience in housing who understands the difficulties young people face as they transition to independent living. We are looking for a passionate and driven person to support our young people on this journey. You will be required to develop and deliver a robust care leavers housing procedure that captures our licence agreement, the setting up/closing of rent accounts and partnership working with supported accommodation providers. You will be confident with delivering training and presentations to colleagues in relation to tenancy sustainment.We are looking for somebody who is committed to working in a trauma informed way, delivering the best service to our care experienced young people.
This role entails regular liaison with external and internal partner agencies and extremely proficient organisation and interpersonal skills.
You will be expected to work to a high professional standard whilst building trusting relationships with young people and colleagues.
Please note, the post entails occasional travel to placements and some limited evening work when required in line with the service.
