About the role

Join our friendly Cornwall Housing team as a Housing Support Worker, playing a valuable part in supporting the delivery of a consistent Housing Operations service. In this role, you will be supporting families in temporary accommodation at Polruan Hostel through financial advice, safeguarding referrals, support plans, and providing advice on a daily basis. You will be working with the Hostel Manager and as part of the Independent Living Team. The purpose of this role is to provide a customer-first approach, whilst maintaining accurate records and ensuring service standard are met, and that improved performance is achieved.

Some of the main responsibilities are:
  • To provide day to day support and assistance to Hostel residents
  • Support the residents in all aspects of customer service enquiries, voids property management, safeguarding, ensuring policies, procedures and legislation is adhered to
  • Provide support to the Hostel Manager by assisting with the role as required to ensure the Hostel has staffing cover and any safety requirements are met
  • Support management and letting process, to minimise void turnaround times, ensure applicant details are fully up to date and the letting of the flats is done in the most efficient manner

About you

We are looking for you to bring:
  • NVQ3 or equivalent combined with GCSE English and Mathematics
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Demonstrates the ability to deal with members of the public face to face in matters relating to Housing Tenancies, Rent, Neighbourhood Enforcement and Voids
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and analytical skills with the ability to interpret information, solve problems logically and effectively maintain statistical data in relation to target work areas that is accurate, immediately available and appropriate

Salary: £23150.00

Working Hours: 37, Monday - Friday (9:00am - 17:00pm)

Contract Type: Fixed Term (1 year)

Base: This role is primarily based at Polruan Hostel

Safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding the welfare of all our service users, clients and customers. This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check. You will be asked to complete the relevant DBS check to be successfully appointed to the role.
