A bit about the role
Dundee Youth Housing Support provides a diverse range of prevention and support services to young homeless people, young people with additional needs and care experienced young people in the Dundee area. The mainstay of the service is to provide supported accommodation to enable young people aged 16-21 years to develop their independent living skills.
The service operates 24/7 providing a mixture of direct access and temporary accommodation for up to 25 young people across 2 sites. DYHS is currently supporting approximately 50 young people.

How you'll help to create brighter futures
- Maintaining effective working relationships and channels of communications with colleagues and with young people and families and where necessary encourage and promote involvement to achieve positive outcomes.
- Being alert to child protection and safeguarding issues and inform appropriate line managers of concerns in line with safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Participating in regular supervision sessions and practice meetings to maintain a cohesive approach and undertake training as identified.
- Maintaining the hygiene and the cleanliness of all working areas, internal and external. Including kitchen and bathroom areas.
- Ensuring familiarity and compliance with relevant Action for Children policies and procedures and work as part of the Dundee Youth Housing Service team.
- Working towards GIRFEC outcome and comply with Health and Social Care Standards and the SSSC Code of conduct.
- Enabling young people to develop independent living skills and sustain tenancy.
- There may be a requirement for sleepovers depending on service requirements.
- S/NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in health and social care.
- Knowledge and awareness of methods of prevention of homeless intervention.
- The ability to keep young people as the focus of all work and ensure the young persons feelings and wishes are represented in meetings and record keeping.
- Experience of working as part of a team or as an individual to deliver a frontline service.
