About Us

Target Housing is a charity and registered social landlord with over 30 years' experience transforming lives through stable accommodation and support. We work in a psychologically and trauma-informed way, empowering people to build independence. Our mission is to provide high-quality housing and support that helps vulnerable individuals live independently, reach their potential, and positively contribute to their communities.

A Typical Week...

As an AST Housing Support Worker, you'll help people take real steps toward independence. You'll manage a caseload across South Yorkshire, offering personalised, trauma-informed support that helps tenants thrive and move confidently into independent living.

No two days are the same. You'll work closely with partner agencies and other key services across Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham, building strong, wrap-around support networks for each tenant. You'll also have the backing of a supportive team and access to multiple Target Housing office bases.

Office hours are generally Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm with a 20-minute unpaid lunch break.

Main Purpose

To deliver high-quality, person-centred housing and support services that help residents sustain their tenancies, overcome challenges, and build the skills they need to live independently (i.e. managing money and utilities).

  • Monitoring property condition, utilities use, and occupancy to keep residents safe and homes well managed.
  • Identifying and responding to any tenancy concerns, working with managers to resolve issues.
  • Helping residents develop budgeting skills and advocating on their behalf with outside agencies.
  • Working closely with Probation, partner agencies, and community organisations to provide holistic support.
  • Supporting residents to manage conflict or disputes sensitively and constructively.
  • Contributing to resident activities, workshops, or community engagement sessions.
